WAIVERS OF CONSENT

Waivers of consent apply in exceptional circumstances only as outlined in the HSE National Consent Policy 2013. (See pages 80-1; 83-4; 89-90) Where a given research study involves genetic data / material, please also refer to pages 79/80 of the Policy.

The HSE National Consent Policy states that as a precondition of access by third parties (i.e. 'researchers who are not directly involved in the care of the prospective research participants'), data / material should be de-identified by the Data Controller (see page 87/88). The Data Controller in respect of all identifiable data / material held in Beaumont Hospital is 'Beaumont Hospital Board', and the hospital's point of contact is its ICT Manager.
